A Few Helpful Links

We've linked a few sites here for those who are trying to keep their home garden GMO free, and not have to relinquish rights or register their own harvested seeds. Take note, make a note. Heirloom seeds can become contaminated by pollination from a GMO field, and that appears to be the plan . . . This corporate leviathan has gained control of 40% of the U.S. vegetable seed market by buying up smaller companies, and now owns the rights to the names themselves of many kinds of seeds. Although, nature in it's natural state cannot be patented, when a company has the gall to tamper with said natural state, trademarks and patents abound. Thus these tips from Healthy Home Economist: Avoid buying from the seed companies affiliated with Monsanto. Here’s a list of these seed companies: The links contained in the following two sentences will take you to an independent site entitled "Occupy Monsanto 360" Buy from this list of companies Monsanto HASN’T bought and are not affiliated at this time. Avoid certain heirloom varieties because Monsanto now apparently owns the names. This article lists the seed varieties to avoid. Ask seed companies if they have taken the Safe Seed Pledge. The preceding link is a list of companies that have done this, also provided by Occupy Monsanto 360. You may continue reading at this site for more information as to how to keep your home garden free of GMO cross-pollination. Who knows, avoiding cross pollination may protect a few honey bees, also! There is an update at Before It's News regarding the Court's decision between an Indiana farmer and Monsanto.
